Yikes!
Hope you're not scared of spiders. I found this Female Common Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia) at Camp Fortune. The first time I've ever seen one. This spider is quite large (.67in). Also notice the "lightning bolt" pattern that is thought to be used to strengthen the web structure, comouflage the spider, attract insects and prevent birds from flying through the web. I was also lucky enough to see her catch a fly of sorts which you can see her wrapping up here.
UPDATE>>>you might notice I've made the Dark template match the light one. I've also made it the default template but you might need to clear your cookies and refresh your browser to take effect.

I see these every year in North Carolina...they are pretty big!
