The friendly bar staff at at the 'newish' bar, Connor's on Bank Street. Eventually there will be more Irish Bars in Ottawa than Tim Hortons. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind finding out those actual numbers.
I'm not usually one to take up other people's causes but since I'm on the subject of the Irish in Ottawa, I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage you to sign a petition to name the also 'newish' pedestrian bridge "The Corktown Bridge" in honour of the early working class residents of Bytown / Ottawa who founded a community named Corktown during the construction of the Rideau Canal. You can view or sign the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/corktwnb/petition.html
Perhaps I'll even head back down to Connor's after work to honour this Ottawa heritage with a nice cold pint of Guinness.
