On our first day of travel and on route to Death Valley we were coerced by a billboard to visit to the Brothel Art Museum in Crystal NV. The host was kind enough to let us in even though it was under renovation. After chatting a while she told us of the shortcut to Death Valley National Monument through the dirt roads instead of backtracking (via Devil's Hole Road/Bob Rudd Memorial Hwy). Besides, it's always way more interesting going off the beaten path. It was a great way to get back to the desert and get into the trip.
