Not really sure why this current is named as a 'falls' but I do know there are some really old pictographs there. Just a bit upstream are what's known to the locals as "The First Rapids/Bridge" and up a little more upstream are the Chaudiere Dams. More photos of the Chaudiere Dams and area.
The French River is a beautiful area I've had the opportunity to visit on a regular basis while growing up and will always return to. We hiked out to this particular spot without any trail since the snow was nice and crusty. While we sat and enjoyed the view for a few moments an eagle also graced the sky above us.

I can still hear your mom screaming as we went down those rapids in a canoe (with you in the middle) over 20 freekn years ago. Raymon followed behind with Lindsay. It was a blast.

Yes, I screamed because it felt like the canoe was being sucked down by the rapids. Would I do this again? Yes, and I did, when on a canoe trip with uncle Fred and Joanne, uncle Charlie and Bernie. It was a thrill, but uncle Fred capsized and his Coleman canoe got caught on a rock and bent in half and he just popped it back in shape. What memories and fun.
