I love these colors, the trees look like they're on fire!
(They're not actually on fire, are they? :D)
As for your optimism regarding this crisis as a catalyst for a big change, I too am optimistic - and hope that a change will come, that all the suffering and hardship that has been imposed on a lot of people will not be for nothing and that we will learn something from it. Although it's hard to retain that optimism in the face of bad news every day... But yes, things will get worse before they get better.

You're obsessed.

Yeah, I am definitely obsessed. I am obsessed because this is serious and many aren't taking this seriously.
In the coming months and next few years we are going to see a major global food crisis possibly resulting in mass starvation. Many countries around the world currently have the lowest food reserves in history at the same time that major food production zones are going through the worst droughts in recent history (see California). Also, the credit crunch is making it very difficult for farmers to get the loans they need every year to get the fertilizers and start-up funds for the season so many fields around the globe aren't going to be productive. As a result we are going to see food costs soar.
Growth based economies dependent on the rampant consumption of resources is unsustainable. There is no such thing as "Sustainable Growth". That's an oxymoron because this is a finite planet. Some might label me as a doomer but I like to see myself as a realist. I've simply looked past the mainstream media and connected the dots. Our leaders only want us to keep shopping and preserve the status quo at all costs.

This image makes a good use of the motion blur effect.
I believe things would have to get much worse to finally get better.
