Road Trip Entry No.12:
After a horrible sleep we still decided to hike the Emory Peak trail and camp in Boot Canyon. There are no reliable water sources and they recommend you carry 1 gallon of water per person per day while hiking in the Chisos. Since we were going overnight we had to double up which translates to about 8 Litres each. Once we were loaded up with water, food, and camping gear our packs were well over 70 pounds each. Suddenly the thought of carrying those packs up several thousand feet seemed ridiculous.
Marc and Krista in full gear with Casa Grande Peak once again in the background.
