Emory Peak of Big Bend National Park reaches up to 7825ft above sea level and is the highest peak in the park. I got so close to the top but I just couldn't do it. Of all people...I felt a fear of the height. I know I could have made that extra 20 feet but I've never been that high up on any mountain in my life. I even dragged my tripod all the way up there so I could get a 360 degree panorama but chickened out. The last 25 feet or so was a hand and foot scramble and one wrong move up there and it's OVER! Here's a view of what was left of the climb from a different angle.
I'm having a very difficult time processing lately especially with these shots from film. I can't seem to get a good compromise between shadow and highlight details without blowing out with noise and film grain. I seem to have momentarily forgot everything I've learned in my colour correction classes. I guess it's time to dig up some notes.

Great shot there! I used to do a lot of rock climbing and mountaineering. This is a really nice view!

"A" for effort. That's a stunning view. Too bad though I'll bet the summit would have been a great shot. Did you throw any thing off ?
