Paynes Prairie State Park in Florida was definitely a highlight of the trip.
Similar to last year's trip to the Coronado Mountains in Arizona we were kept up all night by drunken bitches. We packed up our camping gear at 6:00 am while they continued on. It was very hard to resist fire bombing their truck or slashing their tires but we're beyond that.
It turned out for the better since we got our asses out to do some serious birding and wildlife viewing. Right away we saw a small group of white tailed deer on the way out of the camping grounds veiled in this beautiful morning mist. Before heading to an amazing walk along La Chula Trail (photos to come), we couldn't resist stopping at the observation deck on 441 for the third time. With only about a half hour's worth of sleep it was a sleepy walk but a worthwhile one.

Thanks Paolo!
It was even more beautiful in person. The photo doesn't even do it justice. Too bad a photo couldn't capture the smell of the mist and the sound of the birds!

Yo Ruhh. Now that you've added that comment, I can feel the mist on my face and here the birds. I didn't know they had white throated sparrows in Florida. Sounds great anyway.
